PAINTING CHOSEN

Title: Primavera umbra
Artist: Gerardo Dottori
Year: 1923
Location: -

Type: Aeropainting

_____________
DESCRIPTION:
The “Primavera umbra” represent a view of Trasimeno Lake, painted with the technique of Aeropainting by Gerardo Dottori, an artist from Perugia. The landscape is seen from the top of a mountain giving the illusion of being on an airplane. This is done to see as much space as possibile and to overcome the limits of the horizon flat line.
In the painting the sky appears only reflected in the lake. From the top you can have simultaneous visions of the colored geometry of houses and fields and the curvy profile of the hills in blue, indicating the distance.

________________
INTERPRETATION:
Gerardo Dottori loved aero painting in his works. The style emerged from the futurist love of airplanes and photography.

“You must provide a new kind of perspective: a landscape seen from above, it appears as a series of scenic fragments that are each other’s continuation, colors and shapes that overlap each other maintaining a perfect harmony. Through the moods of the airplane speed I could create an earth landscape isolating it from time and space, feeding it with the sky, so that it could become Heaven”  ( Gerardo Dottori)
